If you want to give customers a discount for ordering bulk quantities of your product, you can define quantity pricing tiers in Cartfunnel.

Before We Begin

Quantity (bulk) pricing involves some calculation logic to ensure that the right price is provided for a line item. Here are a few things to keep in mind about how Cartfunnel determines whether to use bulk price settings:

  • Products added to the shopping cart via bundle builder will not adjust to bulk price settings
  • Product subscriptions (not added through the bundle builder, but added individually) can have their prices be overridden (if desired)
  • Upsell items are not included in the quantity calculations
  • Manually created orders do not consider bulk quantity discounts
  • Items in orders created from subscriptions are not recalculated based quantity pricings

With that said, let’s take a look at how to set up quantity pricing.

Defining Quantity (Bulk) Pricing Settings

In the dashboard, go to the product you want to add quantity prices. The user interface will look slightly different for single variant and multi variant products. However, you can find it near the bottom of the screen:

Click on Edit quantity pricing to begin defining bulk pricing rules.

You’ll see the following screen:

Here, you can define different price breaks, which is characterized by the minimum quantity the customer has to purchase to qualify for that price.

By default, quantities are counted at the level of the product. For instance, if you’re selling a T-shirt in small, medium, and large, and have a minimum order of 3, then the customer can order one small, one medium, and one large to qualify for your special pricing.

You can turn of this behaviour by leaving the Quantities across different variants are counted together unchecked.

Applying quantity discounts to subscriptions

Subscription items (added not through the product bundling feature) are, by default, not counted in the minimum quantity calculation. As such, the discount price you define in the quantity pricing settings also does not apply. However, you can override this by checking the Apply discount as set below to subscription items checkbox.

For subscriptions, the quantity pricing overrides whatever settings you have for the first cycle of the subscription. This is done to ensure that multiple price settings (from different areas of Cartfunnel) isn’t applied multiple times.

Note: We don’t recommend that you mix the price settings for subscriptions with quantity pricing as it may cause confusion as you set product subscription prices.
