If you’re using Stripe as your payment gateway, Stripe sometimes freezes or deactivates account under certain conditions.
When your customers proceed through the checkout, he or she may see an error that live charges cannot be made.
You will see this error:
This connected account cannot currently make live charges. If you are a customer trying to make a purchase, please contact the owner of this site. Your transaction has not been processed.
In certain cases, Stripe restricts some businesses due to high risk. In other cases, they may need more information about you before reactivating your account.
Your Stripe dashboard, although appearing normal, does not show that it’s been activated. When this happens, your account has been internally flagged and will be unable to take live orders, despite no errors showing in your Stripe dashboard. You must contact Stripe immediately to determine the specific issue they are having with your account and see if there’s any way to fix it.
How long does this Stripe error take to resolve?
If your account was put on hold due to review purposes, you may find that it takes a little bit longer to reactivate your Stripe account. In our experience, after you’ve uploaded your verification documents, it may take anywhere from 1-2 days for Stripe to allow your account to go live again.

What can I do about this error?
Stripe may decide to restrict your account. In this case, you can contact their technical support to plead your case to them and see what specifically about your business is raising red flags.
If the underlying issue cannot be corrected, you will not be able to use Stripe for future transactions. In these cases, we recommend that you take a look at some other gateway providers. Cartfunnel supports high risk gateways.
